These are the <s>adorable</s> horrifying visions of fear, pain and eternal torture you may/will eventually run in to. Most information was gathered from wikipedia with personal insight added/amended to each entry.

COMMON ENEMIES

Air Screamer - Pterodactyl-like creatures that fly close to the ground surface and travel around in packs. They tend to linger around areas with garbage. The Air Screamers were inspired by memories of an illustration found in one of Alessa's favorite books, The Lost World.

Ariel - A theatre mannequin of a child, Ariel hangs upside-down from the ceiling or walks along the ground on its hands. They are distinguished by the rattling sound they produce. They are light sensitive.

Bottom - A rotting, upside down human torso which walks on its hands. It moves around and behaves much like the Twin Victims.

Caliban - A large monster, Caliban is a twisted memory Alessa has of the theatre's production of the classic Shakespeare play. It is very slow, but its stomping is very powerful. Very similar activity to Carrion, this creature can catch up if you run. Like Carrion, it will launch itself at you if close enough.

Carrion - A large creature that appears to be the hairless corpse of a large dog, dragging its head on the ground. Though they appear to be slow, if given a chance they will launch towards a victim with considerable strength.

Closer - Lumbering, extremely large-armed creature that attacks using blades that extend out of each end of their arms. The lower portion of the body looks more like a female with a mini skirt, with what appears to be high heels for feet. If the you happen to get too close, the Closer will defend itself by swinging its arms slowly. The sound they make is a synthesized rhinoceros roar. It has the appearance of a Mandarin that has risen above the ground. They like to hang around in particularly narrow passages where they may close off progress.

Creeper 1 - Giant cockroaches that lurk about Silent Hill. The move very quickly, react highly to light, and can easily be killed using melee weaponry. However, it they attack in a group of two or three, they can be too quick to target and may cause significant damage. Creepers only exist within the alternate Silent Hill.

Creeper 2 - Smaller then their nightmare world counterpart they attack by nipping at a victim's feet and then quickly running away. They exist in both normal and alternate Silent Hill.

Doormen - Medium sized creatures that take the form of a walking bed/door with a human-like figure fused through it's center. They attack by trying to eat a victim's head with their gaping toothless mouth located on the underside of their 'front'.

Double Head - Dogs that have their heads split vertically in half. They usually appear in groups and attack quickly on sight. The Double Heads are attracted to beef jerky, bloody carcasses found in some areas, and loud noises. They are "bandaged" in bloody strips of flesh.

Greedy Worm - An enormous, fleshy worm-like creature seen burrowing infinitely throughout various otherworlds, symbolically linking them together like an umbilical cord. Though the creature is not hostile, it cannot be killed.

Grey Child - Knife-wielding, ghost-like children. A swiveling gray stump rests at the base of its neck where a head should be. They like to attack in numbers.

Groaner - Demonic dogs with deteriorating flesh. Appearing commonly in outdoor locations, they are fast, nimble, and attack in packs. They are also sensitive to sound and will react to the source.

Gum Head - A grotesque, decaying ape-like creature. They are intelligent compared to other monsters and wait for choice opportunities to attack aggressively.

Hanged Scratcher - A humanoid praying mantis-like creature found in the sewers of Silent Hill. They use their hooked claws as weapons and usually ambush in numbers.

Harness - A floating object that resembles a rusted harness used to restrain the mentally insane. Though it appears empty it casts the shadow of a human-like figure, bleeds when attacked, and will scream in a female voice.

Hummer - A small, flying monster that appears to be a bat with a humming bird's head. It flies through the air making a loud buzzing sound and attacks by hovering over head before jabbing it's sharp, needle-like beak into the victims head. Hummers are always found in small to large packs.

Insane Cancer - Enormous, obese humanoids with great strength. The name is derived from its outward appearance being suggestive of a cancerous mass. Although they usually move slowly, shifting their weight back and forth, they will sometimes gain bursts of speed to knock their victim down. They are usually found laying down or sleeping. They are capable of regenerating their health if left alone.

Larval Stalker - Partially visible, harmless, ghost-like entities. They cause radios to emit white noise and laugh and squeak before disappearing. They cannot be killed and flee from light.

Lying Figure - Humanoid creatures trapped in what appear to be straitjackets made from their own flesh. They attack by spewing acidic, poisonous mist from an opening in their chest. They are slow whilst standing upright, but when knocked down they stay in a lying position and move by skittering very quickly along the ground.</font>

Mandarin - Apelike creatures with massive, tube-like arms. They swing from the underside of suspended metal catwalks, attacking as a victim passes overhead with a tongue like tentacle from the center of their meaty arms. They resemble closers.

Mannequin - Headless, armless living sewing-dummies. These monsters consist of a feminine human torso and legs, upon which rest two more legs standing upright. The top pair of legs are used for striking while the bottom pair are used for walking. The creatures react highly to light and tend to stand still in plain sight. However, once a victim approaches about three to five feet away they spring to life and start to attack. They have the habit of popping up randomly by launching themselves from places where a victim wouldn't expect them to be.

Mumbler - Humanoid creatures that loosely resembles a headless teddy bear with giant claws. Although their attacks are quite powerful, they tend to move rather slowly. They only exist in alternate Silent Hill.

Night Flutter - A creature that resembles the Air Screamer type their faces are covered in masses of writhing worms and appear to have the bodies of human men. They are sensitive light and exist only in alternate Silent Hill.

Numb Body - A relatively featureless, bipedal creature that appears in various sizes. They make moaning sounds similar to an infant's cries, especially after being struck down. The creature was given its name due to its slow, awkward movements and its body appears pale as if frozen. They parallel the Grey Children from the original Silent Hill.

Nurse 1 (Puppet Nurse) - Monstrous nurses wearing old-fashioned uniforms. Large, slug-like parasites grow out of their backs, causing the nurses to hunch forward when they walk. They are only found in the old Alchemillia Hospital.

Nurse 2 (Bubble Head Nurse) - Well endowed, zombie-like nurses wearing low-cut outfits. Their heads are grotesquely swollen and face backwards, convulsing violently. The nurses are quicker on their feet than most of the other monsters and wield deadly iron pipes that can deal heavy damage. These roam freely in and around the hospital.

Nurse 3 (Heather's Nurses) - The most human like of the medical staff in silent hill. Are usually equipped with the standard iron pipe but some also carry revolver handguns. It appears as though they have either coughed up blood or have been feeding on a bloody carcass, as blood is visibly splattered all around their mouths. They can be heard making heavy panting noises from a distance and when injured, they utter bloodcurdling screams. They are smell sensitive. These nurses are only found within the hospital.

Nurse 4(Origins Version) - The distinguishing features of these nurses their weapon of choice and face. They wield syringes and appear to have masks welded to their face. They exist only within the sanitarium.

Parasitized Doctor (Puppet Doctor) - Monstrous doctors possessed by the same unspecified parasite in the Puppet Nurses. They attack using scalpels and exist only in the alternate of old Alchemillia Hospital.

Pendulum - A monster consisting of two conjoined torsos on each end and a metallic waist which allows it to spin. It has a blade attached to each of the heads and walks around on its stilt-like legs. They can also rotate in midair, without the use of wings, making a noisy screeching sound of grinding metal.

Patient - Abnormally tall, feminine creatures in hospital garb that carry powerful close-range weapons. They can deal heavy damage by attacking multiple times in succession. The Patients tend to appear in groups.

Prisoner - An unseen monster found within one of the cells of Toluca prison. It has a deep, powerful voice and continuously pounds on the iron door of the prison cell, saying "ritual" (or possibly a reversed clip of the phrase "are you sure"). It can be killed despite the fact that it cannot be seen.

Romper - Featureless, humanoid creatures that appear to be either skinless or burned. Their gorilla-like movements render them very fast, and they attack with a body blow by pouncing and tackling their prey to the ground. Rompers are more prevalent in the otherworld and around the Police Station. They are a manifestation of Alessa's fear of adults.

Slurper - Humanoid/anteater-like creatures that crawl along the ground with great speed. Their face is long and pointed, much like that of a pig, and loud noises tend to attract their attention. It often plays dead in an attempt to lure in the player and tries to pin down its prey. The Slurper was named after its habit of noisily consuming rust-colored blood and bits of flesh that stick to the floor with its bill.

Scraper - A humanoid creature that wields two large, rusty blades. Its head looks like many layers of flesh stitched together and quivers rapidly. They attack by continuously stabbing their victim in the torso.

Sniffer Dogs - Dog-type creatures that have long, prehensile tongues that they use to drain the blood of their prey. They have dirty, leathery skin which appears to be decaying and make snarling sounds which resemble that of a large feline rather than a canine. The male Sniffer Dogs have a green-yellow tinge to their skin and attack by charging up and lunging towards the victim's torso. Female Sniffer Dogs, which have a purple-pink appearance, are much more intelligent and tend to detect a victim's presence more sooner. The females are capable of grabbing onto a victim's leg pinning them down while others of its companions attack. The Sniffer Dogs often appear in groups.

Straight-jacket - A shambling creature wrapped in flesh. Nearly identical to the Lying Figures, these creatures behave quite differently, such as spewing balls of acid rather than spraying it. Tenacious little bastards, if they spot you they will continue to chase until you enter another room/building, or kill them.

Toadstool / Whitestool - Disfigured, "vegetable"-like fungi that grows together in tight groups. They come in two varieties: Toadstools, which are reddish-brown and bulge at the top, and Whitestools, which are appropriately white and consist of a single stalk. Both types are immobile, and can only damage a victim if they walk into them. Whitestools are found in damp places, and can be seen to slowly grow if left alone. Toadstools are slightly more damaging, and can be found growing in corpses and dead monsters.

Tremer - Leech-like creature that comes in various sizes and two colors; blue and red with the red ones being the slightly more damaging of the two. They crawl slowly along filthy floors, walls and roofs, and generally make no effort to attack. However, if a victim walks on one or one falls from the ceiling above, they will deal damage. They will burst upon impact from an attack or from being trod or stomped upon.

Twin Victims (Victim 07 + 08) - Walter Sullivan's seventh and eight victims were twins Billy and Miriam Locane. The creature looks like a giant bust walking on a pair of rotted arms; the twins' bodies have been fused together, giving the bust two heads, which resemble the faces of a pair of sleeping infants. They only attack if a victim gets close; otherwise they merely stand stationary, pointing and whispering "receiver" over and over.

Twoback - A fleshy monster that has the appearance of two bodies, fused together. Found pre-dominantly in the Lakeside Motel and alternate Silent Hill. They will spit acid at you from far away, and are extremely aggressive.

Wall Man - Humanoid monsters attached to the wall at the waist. They sink into the wall and are perfectly camouflaged until they attack by swinging their powerful arms at their prey. A related monster, the One Truth, is one of the game's few boss fights.

Wheelchair - An ordinary wheelchair that has a will of its own and, much like the Victims, cannot be killed. Henry also suffers a severe headache whenever he is near one, suggesting that the wheelchairs are possessed. In one room found within the Hospital World, the shadow of a figure sitting in what should be an empty wheelchair can be seen on the ground. However, once the player leaves and re-enters the area, the shadow suddenly disappears. They like to dance about and slam into your knee caps.

Wormhead - A creature that Groaners. Their bodies are more deteriorated and appear to be partially burnt, and their heads and covered in writhing masses of worms. They exist only in the alternate Silent Hill.

GHOSTS

Many ghosts are victims of Walter Sullivan while a small population are victims of The Order or lost souls who simply wandered into the town by accident. Being ghosts, they are immortal and impossible to destroy. Simply being near a ghost in their ghost form will cause debilitating pain and headaches. While conventional weapons will briefly disable them, only a Sword of Obedience is capable of permanently neutralizing them. A ghost pinned to the ground by a Sword loses it's headache-inducing aura and is rendered immobile as long as the sword remains. They attack by reaching into a victim's chest and squeezing their heart. They are separated by those that can only exist in the alternate reality and those that can briefly reclaim their human form. While in their human form their aura is null and they are capable of causing physical damage only.

Ghosts who can only appear in alternate Silent Hill

Victim 4 - The ghost of Steve Garland, a pet shop owner; as a child, Walter was almost bitten by a dog in his store. Walter shot him to death with a submachine gun.

Victim 10 - The ghost of Eric Walsh, a bartender whose establishment was located near Steve Garland's pet shop. Walter, who shot him in the face.

Victim 12 - The ghost of Peter Walls, a stoner who bought drugs from one of the priests of The Order. Walter beat him to death at South Ashfield Apartments.

Victim 13 - The ghost of Sharon Blake, a housewife whose family joined The Order. When she went to go rescue them, she discovered that they had all been killed; she was then ambushed by Walter, who drowned her in the woods outside of Wish House Orphanage.

Victim 14 - The ghost of Toby Archbolt, a member of The Order and priest of the Holy Mother sect. A known pedophile, he operated the Wish House Orphanage, funding it with money made by selling marijuana to teenagers, including Peter Walls. Walter threw him off of a cliff.

Ghosts who can appear in human form

Victim 1 - The ghost of Jimmy Stone, Walter's first victim and a member of The Order. He founded a sect dedicated to the worship of Valtiel a rival of the Holy Mother sect. Walter killed him by shooting him in the back of the head. He takes a human form in normal Silent Hill and causes no supernatural damage.

Victim 6 - The Ghost of George Rosten, Walter's sixth victim a priest in the Valtiel Sect and the right-hand man of Jimmy Stone. He personally instructed Sullivan on the 21 Sacraments, then ironically fell victim to his own teaching when Sullivan beat him to death with an iron pipe and removed his heart. He is often in the company of Father Stone.

Victim 16 - The ghost of Cynthia Velasquez. Walter stabed her to death. She has the ability to immobilize a victim by catching them in her hair. When she is knocked down, she emits a loud, piercing shriek and occasionally slithers away before she can be impaled and immobalized.

Victim 17 - The ghost of Jasper Gein. His body is severely charred and still burning from his death by immolation. He wields a bladed ceremonial chalice and has a very powerful ghost aura (compared to most other ghosts). Jasper is capable of quickly passing through walls.

Victim 18 - The ghost of Andrew DeSalvo, found in the Water Prison. His corpse is severely bloated from his death by drowning. The numbers 18/21 are carved into his stomach. Like Victim 17, he too has a powerful ghost aura which is coupled with ramming and barrel roll attacks. He is the only Victim who is capable of a semblance of speech and he can be heard singing and talking to himself in a heavily distorted voice. He tends to hover just out of reach.

Victim 19 - The ghost of Henry's deceased neighbor. Walter electrocuted him in an old-fashioned electric chair. Richard carries a steel pipe weapon. He attacks with tremendous speed and has the ability to teleport in flashes. He chooses to walk rather than float in his ghost form.

Harold Mason - Harold Mason adopted a little girl he and his wife discovered on the outskirts of Silent Hill. After his wife died he often took his little girl Cheryl to silent hill on vacation. One fateful trip he was run off the road and dragged into a horrific plot to revive a 'god'. He saved his daughter and defeated the false god. Years after The Order discovered he and his daughter's whereabouts and murdered Harry. His soul has returned to Silent Hill. He exists in the normal version only. An innocent soul searching for his daughter he causes no harm and will sometimes help out if he can.

James Sunderland - James came to Silent Hill three years after his wife Mary's death. He returned to the town after receiving a letter written by his late wife. It told him to go to their special place. James and his wife had vacationed previously across Toluca Lake at the Lake View Hotel. She held a special spot in her heart for the town and had begged to return often through her illness. Though he had convinced himself she died three years ago beckoning him with a posthumas letter in actuality James had murdered her when her terminal illness began to rob him of the woman he loved. He returned to Silent Hill and the Lake View Hotel to end his life. The town responded to his guilty conscious and took him in with open arms. Now he resides in both the normal Silent Hill as a helpful man looking for his dead wife and the alternate Silent Hill as a ghostly remnant of a guilty, damned soul.

Father Vincent - Information coming soon.

Michael Kauffman - Information coming soon.

Lisa Garland - Information coming soon.

Dahlia Galespie - Information coming soon.

Leonard Wolf - The father of Claudia Wolf and a highly influential member of the order. Some liberties were taken especially with characters within the game to fit them better in a journal based RP.
